Visitor Visa for Medical Treatment
The purpose of this visa is to enter New Zealand for a confirmed course of medical treatment or consultation.
Eligibility
- You must have written evidence that you have been accepted for treatment or consultation in NZ.
- Whether or not you are from a visa waiver country, this visa is required.
Required Documents
- Completed INZ 1009 "Details of Intended Medical Treatment" form.
- Letter of acceptance from the healthcare provider.
- Detailed cost breakdown of medical treatment.
- Evidence of means to pay all treatment and living costs (or support from a sponsor).
- If required, evidence of the need for an escort for health reasons.
- Character and health documents, as requested.
Family / Escorts
- You may include your partner and dependent children (≤ 19 years) in your application.
- Escorts (medical professional, family or friend) can apply separately for an “Escort of Medical Patients Visitor Visa” (up to 6 months, includes family).
Duration & Processing
- Up to 6 months stay. Extensions possible if further treatment is needed.
- Processing: Around 4 weeks.
