Broadly, a person who is not a New Zealand or Australian Citizen or a holder of Residence class visa or equivalent should obtain Student visa* in order to undertake study or training.

Application Process
Once you have finalised an institution, you will fill in an application form and submit it, along with your academics such as educational qualifications along with detail mark sheets, one or more letters of recommendation from former teachers or employers, statement of purpose, personal essays, financial affidavits. We may also help you in assessing your qualifications by overseas qualification authorities, this may result in waiver of a few papers and hence resulting in saving time and tuition fees.

A person must obtain a student visa in order to undertake study or training in New Zealand, unless they are:
- a New Zealand citizen; or
- the holder of a residence class visa; or
- the holder of a student visa; or
- the holder of a limited visa granted for the express purpose of attending a programme of study or training; or
- the holder of any other type of temporary entry class visa whose conditions have been varied to authorise the holder to undertake a programme of study in New Zealand; or
A student visa or variation of conditions is not required:
- for work visa holders to undertake any programme of study, or other training, authorised by their employer as part of their employment; or
- for temporary visa holders to undertake one or more programmes of study of not more than three calendar months’ duration in total per 12-month period; or
Student Visa Requirements
- Offer of place: Applicant must have an offer of place with a New Zealand education provider,
- Confirmation of enrolment:Applicants who are returning to the same New Zealand education provider to continue a programme of study or training scheme may, instead of an offer of a place, provide a confirmation of enrolment from the education provider
- Accommodation requirements:Fee-paying foreign students who are under the age of 18 must provide, with their student visa application, a statement from their education provider confirming that the student’s accommodation is compliant with the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016.
- Sufficient funds for maintenance while in New Zealand:Applicants must provide evidence to satisfy an immigration officer that they have sufficient funds available to maintain themselves throughout the period of their stay in New Zealand.
Evidence may include but is not limited to:
- notice of the award of a full scholarship; or
- a completed Sponsorship for Temporary Entry
- a completed Financial Undertaking for, which covers a stay in New Zealand for the length of the visa or
- funds held by or on behalf of the student
5.Outward Travel:Applicants for student visas are required to provide evidence that they have the means while their visa is current to travel to a country to which they have right of entry
6.Students under the age of 10: Student visas will only be granted to students aged under 10 who are enrolled in any provider if they will be living in New Zealand with their legal guardian unless they are enrolled in a school hostel approved by the Code Administrator.
7.Insurance requirements for fee paying international students: Fee-paying foreign students must hold insurance as a condition of their visa
Domestic Student: A dependent of a Citizen or Residence class visa holder or eligible Work Visa holder or eligible Student or Visitor Visa holder may be eligible for Student Visa as a domestic student. Domestic students are exempt from paying international fees to study in New Zealand primary or secondary schools.
Fee paying International student: Most overseas students who wish to study in New Zealand may apply for a Student Visa as a fee paying foreign student. If you are a work visa holders and wish to undertake any programme of study, or a training, authorised by your employer as part of your employment; or if any temporary visa holders wish to undertake one or more programmes of study of not more than three calendar months’, such people do not require a student visa.
